Taking Angong Niuhuang Wan as an example, the intangible cultural heritage value of traditional Chinese medicine is measured. An index system is constructed, in which the intangible cultural heritage value of traditional Chinese medicine is divided into four aspects, that is to say, historical value, scientific value, production condition, and development and safeguarding capability. Investigation shows that the excellent processing technology of Angong Niuhuang Wan ranks only as middle upper. This is mainly because of people misunderstand of traditional Chinese medicine. Evaluation of the intangible cultural heritage value of Angong Niuhuang Wan can help the public gain a better understanding of the value of traditional Chinese medicine. This understanding benefits the safeguard of its processing technology.
